Although God's name is never mentioned in the book of Esther, we see God's providential hand governing over and navigating through every detail of the story. God's providence continues to work to the first coming of Christ and will continue working to His second and final coming! As John Calvin writes in his Institutes: "Gratitude of mind for the favorable outcome of things, patience in adversity, and also incredible freedom from worry about the future all necessarily follow upon this knowledge." Let us be encouraged and strengthened in these ways as we consider God's providence in the life of Esther.
